A Great Workspace in an Average Locality or An Average Workspace in A Great Locality? Let's Solve It



Workspaces are the home for any employee on a regular day and are a source of interaction, retention, and nurturing of work experience. Something we are devoid of at the moment and craving is that enhanced, collaborative engagement with everyone within the walls of the office. But, what we lack to miss is the travel we put up with in the past few months. 

We've succumbed to the new norm of staying remote, but regardless, a company needs a central body to represent itself in the industry, and hence, workspaces will cease to remain a vital part of our lives. 

But can location play a role just as vital, or perhaps even more essential than the workspace itself?  Or can the two be equally compromised to gain the best of both worlds?


Workspace V/s Location


It's the reality that employees want and need a workspace that supports their daily operational needs while providing amenities to enhance their overall quality of working. But when it comes to a business point of view,  a company may choose a location that benefits their vision or even their financial position while having to compromise on other aspects. 

On the one hand, a company may choose to spend on a location that beneficially drives heavy footfall, and on the other, could spend the same to retain talent but give in to an affordable locale than the former.  

It's natural to be in two with both choices, but the perfect scenario is in weighting the characteristics of the organization to complement both the location and its workspace.



The Style of Operation  


Every organization has a core operational strategy that defines its day to day functions. Some companies are heavily collaborative than others, while some may still be connected but most often sustain on independent work modes. 

Based on the dependency to conduct frequent collaborations, a company can decide to locate themselves in a central location to provide easy access to every employee. 


The Audience 


For some companies, having their office located at a prime location can affect how spectators perceive them. Local clienteles will instantly be interested in a company located at an established part of a city, while global clients would not reflect with any locality of the metropolis.

Companies may want to weigh in the frequency of their client visits to the workspace as this will help decide if it is necessary to locate at a centrally, downtown, thriving hub in the town or would suffice elsewhere. 


The Talent 


Most college students opt for flexible working, with a company that supports collaboration, convenience, and added amenities, to drive them to come to the workspace. To ensure that a company can attract and retain talent, it must incorporate as many workspace values as possible, even if that may take away from a prime location. 



The Final Verdict 


Once the company evaluates the values they want to project onto its potential drivers,  weighing the pros and cons of both- a terrific workspace and location become simpler.

Although there is no credible winner between the two, it is necessary to understand that not everyone benefits the same from a workspace or location like another. As every company differs in factors that make it unique, so will its workspace and locality.
